Transcription: Marsupials, like the kangaroo, the wombat and the possum can be described as primitive mammals as they are the forerunners of the more highly evolved mammals. But unlike other mammals, they give birth to their young at a very early stage of development when they're not only blind, dumb and naked but still have incomplete limbs. The young suck on teats inside a skin pocket or pouch where they complete their development.
